Lead guitarist Mike Carpenter takes the smooth balance of warm texture and soulful tasty licks, and lays them right in the middle of the Uncle Lucius sound. Mike grew up in Houston, Texas where he began playing guitar as a child. He has been a musician in Austin since the late 90's. His influences range from Neil Young, to Robert Johnson, to Jimmy Page(with everything in between). He previously played guitar, mandolin, and sang in country band Something Johnson, as well as lead guitar and vocals for Molasses Creak before joining Uncle Lucius. Mike also contributes his unique style and vision to Uncle Lucius' songwriting as well as occasional mandolin and vocals.
